Larson, Morgan Foster (1882-1961) of Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, N.J. Born in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, N.J., June 15, 1882. Republican. Engineer; member of New Jersey state senate from Middlesex County, 1922-28; Governor of New Jersey, 1929-32. Died March 21, 1961. Interment at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, N.J.

He attended The Cooper Union, receiving a B.S. degree in 1907 and a C.E. degree in 1910. He initially worked as an engineer and then went into politics.  He served as a member of the New Jersey State Senate from 1922 to 1928; and was senate president in 1926. Larson next secured the Republican gubernatorial nomination and was elected governor on November 6, 1928. While governor, the Jones law was sanctioned; and a state tax department, as well as a state-purchasing department were established. Also, the Delaware River port authority was founded; and regulations were imposed on building and loan associations.

Following his term as governor of New Jersey, Morgan Larson served as the New Jersey Commissioner of Conservation, from 1945 to 1948. From 1948 to 1961 he worked as an engineering consultant for the New Jersey Water Policy and Supply Council. Governor Morgan F. Larson passed away on March 21, 1961, and was buried in the Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
