George Friedl EE’28

George Friedl, Jr. graduated from The Cooper Union School of Engineering, where he received a B. S. degree in 1928 and an E. E. degree in 1931.  George Friedl also took post-graduate work at Columbia University and at New York University.  Following his graduation from Cooper Union he worked for Western Electric Company from 1928 to 1937 in both engineering and industrial relations, in the United States and in England.During World War II, Mr. Friedl was in the U. S. Navy, serving at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D. C.

He was  with General Precision Equipment Corporation (GPE) from 1937 to 1950, he was president and director of the GPE subsidiary, Librascope, Inc., before joining Link Aviation as works manager in 1953. Librascope produced intelligent control systems for several industries.

George Friedl was vice-president and director of advanced planning, Link Aviation, Inc.,  He was elected vice-president of manufacturing for Link in 1954, and vice president and director of planning in January 1956.    From 1960 to 1962, he was Chairman of the Board and President of Matthews Corporation.

George Friedl was appointed Deputy Associate Administrator of Industry Relations at NASA in 1964.
