Mina Bernice (Baylis) Greenstein graduated from The Cooper Union School of Art in 1956. She had a successful career as a graphic designer and art director of children’s books. She was active with the Cooper Union Alumni Association, serving several terms on the Alumni Council and serving as the CUAA representative at School of Art faculty committee meetings for more than 20 years. She served multiple terms on the Nominating Committee. She volunteered at the Cooper Union Phonathon, and served on the Augustus Saint-Gaudens Award Committee. In 2015, she was elected VP Faculty and Student Liaison. In 2011, she received the CUAA Alumna of the Year Award.
Mina Greenstein was born on July 11, 1935 and passed away on March 25, 2020. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY.
Mina graduated from PS 241, Erasmus Hall High School, The Cooper Union and Columbia University.
In 1961, she married Marvin Neal Greenstein, and together they started a family in Manhattan.
Mina was an AIGA award-winning graphic designer and art director of children’s books. Books that she worked on were honored with AIGA Best Books and Bookbinders’ Guild of New York awards.
In retirement, she was an active volunteer with The Cooper Union, Gracie Mansion, Congregation Or Zarua, and other organizations. She was also a regular at the NY Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, NYC Ballet, Peoples’ Symphony Concerts and more. She was passionate about Brooklyn, NYC, politics, justice, art, and especially her family and friends.
