Barbara Fishman A’60 worked for CBS early in her career designing advertisements for the network. She became art director at CBS and she designed album covers and liner notes for CBS records. Barbara won awards for her work from AIGA, The Art Director’s Club of New York and had her work shown in Graphis magazine. She later became art director at an advertising firm doing work for the pharmaceutical industry. She retired from advertising in 1998. She sold antiques for two years and then decided to devote herself full time to painting. She was the Chairman of the Board of the Vermont Studio Center.

Barbara Fishman was on the advisory board of the Sloan Kettering Institute, was a trustee at The Cooper Union School, a Board member of the Friends of LaGuardia High School (formerly the High School of Music and Art), and a member of the Board of the Parrish Museum in Southampton, NY.

Barbara Fishman received the CUAA alumna of the Year Award in 1994.
