Robert Tan AR ’81

Robert is a Partner at Gerrard + Tan Architects. He has served on the Board of Trustees, the Alumni Council, the Nominating committee, The Working Group, and Co-Chair of the Annual Fund Committee.

He and Judy Gerrard, AR’83, were Chairs of the 2009 Founder’s Day Dinner Dance. Between 2009 and 2014 Robert served as CUAA Secretary/Treasurer, a member of the Annual Fund, Events, Constitution, and the John Q. Hejduk Award Committees, and a non-voting Alumni Representative on the Board of Trustees Development Committee.

Robert Tan was elected Alumni Trustee in May 2014 and began his 4 year term in December of 2014.

During the fall of 2014, he was the Architecture Alumni representative on the Gural/Borkowski Working Group. An elected body sanctioned by the Board of Trustees to find a sustainable cost savings plan to prevent the implementation of tuition for Cooper Union. On the Working Group, he was the Chair for the Administration and Compensation Sub Group and a member of the Space Utilization Sub Group.  In 2014 he was elected as a BOT representative on the Presidential Search Committee. In 2019, Robert received the CUAA Alumnus of the Year award.  In 2021 he was elected CUAA President.
