Shankar Venkataraman, BSE 2003

Shankar Venkataraman is an electrical engineer specializing in communications systems.  He has been with Parsons for eleven years and works out of the Newark office.  His work includes the design of communication and security systems for the new PATH Station at The World Trade Center.  He lives in Edison, NJ.

Shankar has been a CUAA Council member since 2015.  In 2015, he was a key player on the Get Out the Vote committee, which was organized when the responsibility for running elections was first transferred from The Cooper Union to the CUAA.  He contributed his technical skills and his networking skills, personally engaging with a large number of young alumni.  During the 2015/2016 academic year, we had two CUAA elections and Shankar worked tirelessly on both efforts.  Since 2016, Shankar has chaired the Election Committee, which includes overseeing the creation of the electronic ballots, the distribution of the ballots, and numerous communications with alumni.  Shankar has served on the Nominating committee. Shankar has helped organize four Meet the Candidate events and moderated two of those events.  He helps with camera equipment for the Livestream video at Council meetings and participates in the Cooper Union Phone-A-Thons.

Shankar is an enthusiastic believer in the talent of all Cooper Union Alumni and a proponent of alumni networking.  He will be helping with the formation of new affinity groups within the CUAA.

Shankar Venkataraman was selected as the Young Alumnus of the Year for 2018.
