Steven Silberstang graduated from The Cooper Union Engineering School in 1970. He also studied at University of Arizona, for hydrology. Steven Silberstang was a founder of the Amarex Technology which was founded in 1979. Amarex developed “intelligent network” products and systems for telephone call handling and media processing within a telephone network. These systems were used to automate facilities for national and international networks. Steven Sold Amarex to Comverse in February 1999 and retired from Comverse as President of the Voice Service Platforms Group in 2002. He was a pioneer and developer of software in the telecommunications and banking industries. Steven was responsible for bringing speech recognition technology to market in the 1980s. He founded Foolhardy Investors, a New York based investment firm in 2002.
Steven received the CUAA Gano Dunn award in 2007 and was inducted into the Cooper Union Hall of Fame in 2009. Steven passed away in 2019.
