Laura Spinner A’90

Laura Spinner received a BFA from the Cooper Union in 1990. Upon graduation, Laura started a decorative painting business specializing in murals and fine painted finishes. Her clients have been both residential and commercial entities and have included the Princeton Theological Seminary, The Marshall Field Estate at Caumsett for the Designer Showcase House, BHDM Design, and the UJA.  Work for her residential clients have appeared in Architectural Digest and House Beautiful.

Laura has been a volunteer for the Cooper Union Alumni Association for 10 years. She served two consecutive three-year terms as a Council member and eight years on the Nominating Committee, including  chairperson of that committee in 2022. She has also been a member of the Augustus Saint Gaudens Award Committee and served as chairperson of the Awards committee for 5 years. She has assisted the Events Committee throughout the years. 

In recognition of Peter Cooper’s vision of offering a free education to its students, Laura considers it a privilege to be able to assist The Cooper Union in achieving that objective.  Laura received the 2024 CUAA Alumna of the Year Award.
