Situ Research (Basar Girit, Aleksey Lukyanov-Cherny, Wes Rozen, Bradley Samuels, all AR ’05) is working for the prosecution team in the trial of an Islamic extremist for destroying historic monuments in the ancient city of Timbuktu. They are developing a new digital platform to present the various types of visual evidence documenting the destruction of the religious sites in Timbuktu, Mali. The work is funded by grants from MacArthur Foundation in Chicago and the Oak Foundation in Geneva.
