Two Bridges Neighborhood is Collaborating with Cooper Alumni on a Beyond the Grid project. The “Beyond the Grid” project was featured at the Ideas City festival in June 2015. The Beyond the Grid team is installing Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems in large, privately owned, affordable residential buildings and developing the WiFi network. These systems will allow residents to Shelter in place should there be another extreme weather event like super storm Sandy.
Two Cooper Union Alumni are on the Beyond the Grid team: BTG co-founder Paul Garrin A’82, and Margaret Matz AR’83 of Milestone Architecture. Other team members include Kerri Culhane of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, Alex Nadolishny of the Louis Berger Group, Philip Barton of Schneider Electric, and Bob Fleishman from the law firm of Morrison & Foerster.
