Beatriz Ponce ME 2011
Running For: 2021 Council
I am excited to finally dedicate my time back to the institution that gave me the foundation for all the successes in my life. I will be forever grateful to everything Cooper has given me in terms of my career, my incredible friends and husband (ME ‘11- we even named our new puppy Cooper) and my ability to attack problems in every area of my life. I’ve been saying for the past few years that I want to get more involved and give back my time to Cooper at the level it deserves. I want to leverage the strong relationships I built throughout Cooper to strengthen the Alumni Council and I hope to work with the board to allow Cooper to be tuition free again. I hope to have the opportunity to serve the Cooper Union community that I care so deeply about.
Beatriz is a Project Manager at Skanska and is currently part of the Mechanical team managing the construction of the future main terminal building at LaGuardia Airport. Beatriz has been with Skanska since she graduated Cooper Union in 2011 with her B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and got her M.B.A part time in 2014 while working full time throughout. In that time she has worked on the United Nations Headquarters project and a health center building in Brooklyn. Having played sports competitively her entire life, she carried this passion on at Cooper and joined the soccer and basketball teams which allowed her to build strong friendships with members of all 3 schools. Beatriz was also an active member of SWE, SHPE, and Senior Council during Cooper.
