Biography

Steven Hillyer received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Cooper Union in 1990. He has participated in the design, installation and curatorship of numerous exhibitions presented by The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture, both at The Cooper Union and abroad. Additionally, he has been involved in the fabrication of many of the publications produced by the Architecture Archive, in capacities ranging from production coordination and assistance to design supervision and editorial work. Hillyer has been Director of the Architecture Archive since 2004.

Aside from his work at The Cooper Union, Hillyer is an award winning screenwriter / playwright / producer and co-founder of New York City based Arkanjel Productions. His first feature film, The Event, premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and was released domestically and internationally. Hillyer is currently developing several projects he has co-authored, including the play Mend, which was presented as a staged reading at the Jermyn Street Theatre in London in 2016. He also co-produced the 2014-16 U.S. tours of Christmas Without Tears (Does This Tree Make Me Look Fat?), a series of live holiday benefit performances hosted by Harry Shearer and Judith Owen.
