Ciera Lowe ChE’14

Running for: Council

Campaign Statement

I look forward to reengaging with the CUAA and finding new opportunities to volunteer and connect with other Alumni. As one of the last students who was fortunate enough to graduate from Cooper before we started charging tuition, I appreciate the importance of getting back to full tuition scholarships. I also think it would be great to have more representation of women, people of color, and young alumni on the council, and I will do my best to represent each of these perspectives within the council if I am elected.

Ciera is currently working as a Senior Data Architect at a prime brokerage called Clear Street. Since she graduated from Cooper Union in 2014, she has worked at Fintech startups in New York as a Data Engineer, Engineering Manager, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst. She also spent 2 years as a Data Management Consultant working with clients up and down the East Coast. Ciera has called New York home since the week she moved into Cooper Union’s Dorms in 2010 after growing up outside of Los Angeles in Southern California.

Ciera was honored with the Young Alumna of the Year award in 2017 from the Alumni Association while she was serving her first term on the CUAA Council. She was the communications chair for 2 years until she was elected Treasurer of the CUAA in 2017. The year before that, Ciera also received The Golden Torch Award from the National Society of Black Engineers XL Alumni Chapter.  During her time at Cooper, Ciera was a student leader in the Student Council, The National Society of Black Engineers, and The Black Student Union. She also participated in Society of Women Engineers and AIChE events while attending Cooper Union.
