Claudia Giordano A’76

Running for: VP Student/Faculty Liaison and Nominating Committee

Campaign Statement

During the critical period of the Cooper Union financial crisis I felt compelled to become involved with the school and was nominated to run for the Alumni Council. I supported the Back To Free movement and the CSCU. My experiences working with Cooper students and alumni during this period were inspiring and profound.

As VP Faculty and Student Liaison, I will bring to this role my knowledge and experience in education and leadership as well as dedication to the mission of Peter Cooper.

A career public school art educator (retired), union activist, and former long time East Village resident, Claudia has served two consecutive 3-year terms on the CUAA Council. She co-chaired and served on the Augustin Saint-Gaudens Alumni Art Award Committee, and has served on the Peter Cooper Alumni Service Award, the Nominating, the MOA, and the Communications Committees. She has also participated several times as part of the Peter Cooper Block Party committees and facilitated the Alumni Awards and Art Auction event at the Hamilton Fish House.

She interviewed the director of the Deborah Remington Trust and wrote a piece that was featured on the CUAA website
