Running for: Alumni Council

Evan Bray AR’01

Campaign Statement

My parents, both born and raised in New York City, moved to Cañon City, Colorado in 1976. In 1996, I was accepted into the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture. “Go east, young man.” were the words my parents put in my high school graduation announcement, and I did.

I have three loves in my life: family, friends, and New York City; Cooper and the City are inextricable. I met my wife, Celeste Foster, at Cooper (ChE ‘00), and we have four daughters–one of whose middle name is Cooper. Celeste and I are presently going through the most amicable divorce in the history of divorces. I currently live in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn with a loving partner. Apologies, that’s probably too much information.

Why should you elect me to the CUAA?  I’m passionate, relatively smart, loyal [insert funny joke about the impending divorce], and passionate about all my endeavors. Do I have the time to serve on the board? Not really, but I will make the time because of the allegiance I have pledged to this incredible institution. I would not only kill for Peter Cooper but would also bury dead bodies for him–metaphorically speaking, of course.

Biography

I received a BArch ’01 and have made a career as a building code and zoning consultant in the City beginning August 3, 2001 at Brookbridge Consulting Services. In 2022 we were acquired by a private equity firm and merged with several companies that complement our work in environmental, sustainability, fire/life safety, and inspection fields; our company is now known as CodeGreen where I am a partner and managing director.

Perhaps my proudest achievement post-graduation is working as a ballperson (“ballboy”) at the United States Open Tennis Championships since 2019; this summer will be my seventh year servicing professional tennis players’ balls on court. It is my enrichment job for 3 weeks of the year. I am also captain of my dart team in the Park Slope Dart League and a pretty decent shooter.

In summary: Vote for Evan. I will bring passion, dedication, and my professional experience to the table.
